bosc pears kaiser alexander
split, with core and seeds carefully removed, ripe, (I've used Anjou and Bosc) -
ginger juice
-
brown sugar
packed -
flour
-
cinnamon
-
butter
Recipe steps
Prepare the oven and pears
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the pears in half lengthwise and gently remove the core and seeds with a small spoon. Arrange them in a baking dish.
Prepare the crumble
In a small bowl, mix the oats, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix well so all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Top and bake
Distribute the oat mixture over each pear half, forming small domes. Dot with pieces of cold butter. Bake for about 15 minutes.
Brown the top
Switch the oven to broil for a maximum of 30 seconds to brown the crumble. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
Tips and variations
- No Anjou or Bosc pears? Any variety of ripe pear will do the trick, the important thing is that it’s tender.
- For an even more indulgent version, add a pinch of chopped walnuts or sliced almonds to the crumble.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel, or simply plain to let the flavors shine.
Anti-waste tips
Don’t throw away the pear peels! You can use them to:
- Make a fragrant infusion by boiling them with a cinnamon stick
- Add them to your compost to enrich the soil
- Dry them in the oven to create homemade fruit chips
