Prepare the apples
Peel the Gala and Granny Smith apples, then cut them into thin wedges. In a mixing bowl, combine the apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, white sugar, and salt. Let rest for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Prepare the streusel
In another bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and roughly chopped peanut butter-jam mixture until you get a crumbly texture.
Assemble and bake
Butter a small baking dish. Pour in the apple mixture, then spread the streusel evenly on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the streusel is golden and the apples are tender.
Tips and variations
- You can add two tablespoons of strawberry jam for a wonderfully original fruity twist.
