So we decided to save it all...
Ugly is the anti-waste alternative that fits seamlessly into your daily life. Our goal is to offer simple, practical solutions that help you reduce waste while still enjoying great products.
We rescue “imperfect” fruits and vegetables that would otherwise end up in the bin, even though they’re ultra-fresh and seriously tasty. Then we pack them into a basket and deliver them straight to your door: less waste, more flavor!
Why reduce food waste? Because waste reduction is one of the major solutions to slow down climate change (source).
Ugly is the real alternative! Make a difference without complicating your life.
We buy fruits and vegetables without judgment: too small, too big, or simply surplus. They deserve better than the trash. After all, isn’t true beauty on the inside?
And taste-wise, these rebels of nature are simply unbeatable!
Harvested and purchased the same morning, our products arrive at your home within 48 hours. In other words, they arrive in your kitchen with all the freshness of a family vegetable garden. One bite is enough to taste the difference. And, of course, everything is 100% organic and seasonal.
Our baskets are so well-stocked that your taste buds — and your fridge — will thank you all week and sometimes even a bit longer.
Our customers say it best: we don’t do things halfway.
We buy directly from producers, eliminating the middlemen, and offer them fair prices for their fruits and vegetables. This way, they can sell the products that are rejected by wholesalers.
We only order what we need to fulfill your orders. No surplus, no losses. That’s our way of saying no to waste and yes to efficiency: simple, clever, and good for the planet.
We work with organic producers from the Seeland region, which is considered the ‘vegetable garden’ of Switzerland. This allows us to offer a great diversity.
During the cold seasons, the diversity of local fruits and vegetables decreases. That’s why our baskets are made up of around 80% local produce, topped up with 20% organic goodies from neighboring countries. These products are sourced directly from our Swiss producers. That way, you get a nice variety all year long — like juicy, colorful Sicilian oranges.
What about CO2?
We always consider the carbon footprint of our products. We know, for example, that a heated Swiss greenhouse tomato creates 4 to 10 times more CO₂ than a field-grown tomato imported from abroad (source).
