Seeds and pits: small but full of resources

You love fruits and vegetables all the way to the end... including their seeds and pits? Too often thrown away, these little elements are actually hidden treasures. What if we gave them a second life? Less waste, more creativity... and beautiful surprises at the bottom of the jar.

Why keep them?

Seeds and pits are packed with nutrients: fiber, healthy fats, minerals… depending on the variety, some are even edible directly (after a little treatment). But most importantly, they have incredible potential for:

  • Making infusions: melon seeds, squash seeds, or even carrot tops (bonus from Ugly!) make excellent bases for gentle herbal teas with digestive benefits.
  • Snacking or roasting: roasted pumpkin seeds, dried watermelon seeds… delightfully crunchy.
  • DIY cosmetics: certain seeds (like cucumber or melon) can be used in natural face masks or scrubs.
  • Making magic powder: dried and ground seeds = perfect topping for salads, granola, homemade pestos.

Be careful though:

  • Some pits like those from apples, cherries, or apricots contain small doses of toxic substances. Don’t eat them as is!
  • Always air-dry your seeds before storing or reusing them.

A small gesture, a beautiful impact

By giving new value to your seeds and pits, you reduce the weight of your food waste, close nature’s loop… and add a little poetry to your homemade preserves.
