Picture this: a light, buttery dough, tender apple pieces, and that warm cinnamon scent wrapping around you the moment they come out of the oven. These stuffed biscuits are the ultimate comfort snack, perfect for a rainy Sunday or a spontaneous craving for something sweet.

Ingredients

servings
  • flour
  • levure chimique
  • butter
    softened
  • sugar
  • apples
  • milk
  • maple syrup
  • salt
  • cinnamon

Recipe steps

Prepare the dough

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. Add the softened butter and milk. Mix until you get a smooth dough.

Knead and roll out

Generously flour your work surface and knead the dough for one minute. Roll it out to about 1 cm (½ inch) thickness. Cut out circles using a cookie cutter or an upside-down glass.

Prepare the apples

Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes. Set aside a few pieces for the final decoration.

Assemble the biscuits

Take a dough disc and flatten it slightly. Place a few apple pieces in the center, sprinkle with a little cinnamon sugar, then cover with a second dough disc. Pinch the edges well to seal. Sprinkle the top with a bit more cinnamon sugar.

Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until they’re lightly golden. Let them cool for a few minutes on a wire rack.

Serve

Top with a few apple pieces, sprinkle with a final touch of cinnamon sugar, and drizzle generously with maple syrup or honey.

Tips and variations

  • For the apples, go for Granny Smith if you want a tart kick, or use Golden or Gala apples, which are a bit sweeter but just as delicious.
  • For an extra indulgent twist, add some caramel chips or raisins to the filling.
  • Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly decadent dessert.

Anti-waste tips

Don’t throw away your apple peels!

Here are some ideas:

  • Dry them in the oven at low temperature for crispy apple chips
  • Steep them in hot water with a cinnamon stick for a cozy herbal tea
  • Add them to your compost to nourish your garden
