Sometimes the best-before date is a bit too short for traditional distribution networks. The batch is intact, the product is excellent, but logistics timelines don’t leave enough margin for distributors. Rather than letting this stock go to waste, we buy it and offer it directly to our community.
Behind every bottle of Ólixir, there’s a Sicilian winemaker, a restored family orchard, and olives harvested while still green to preserve their nutritional density. It’d be a shame to waste it!
Sergio Panzarella is Sicilian, living in Geneva for 15 years. In 2017, after his grandmother passed away, he restored the family orchard in Termini Imerese to honor what she had built.
In 2018, he earned a sommelier diploma in extra virgin olive oil with a specialization in chemical structure and nutritional impact. In 2019, he left his permanent job to create Food for Health® and launch Ólixir.
What makes the difference
It all starts with sourcing: 100% Sicilian, from certified organic orchards. The house blend—Biancolilla, Nocellara, Cerasuola, Calamignara—is harvested while still green, when polyphenols are at their peak. Polyphenols are the natural compounds in olives that give them their characteristic bitter-peppery taste and their documented effects on the cardiovascular system. Harvesting early preserves the maximum amount.
Extraction is done at ultra-cold temperatures, between 19 and 22°C, to preserve all the organoleptic and nutritional qualities. The tinted glass bottle then protects the oil from light until it reaches your table.

An oil rich in polyphenols is more sensitive to light, heat, and air than industrial oil. The tinted glass bottle does part of the job—the rest is up to you.
Smart tips
An oil of this quality deserves to be used cold or as a finishing touch—that’s when it best expresses its aromas and its polyphenols stay intact. Intense heat degrades them! Drizzle it over roasted vegetables, soup, bread, or tomatoes.
